Applying for Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income benefits in San Diego county
If you want to apply for Social Security disability benefits in San Diego county, there are different ways to do it.
You can call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213. Since this is the national toll-free number, the wait time is usually quite lengthy. Once you actually speak to a telephone agent, they will schedule an interview time with a representative from the local Social Security office. The interview may be in person or by telephone.
You can go to the Social Security Administration web page at www.ssa.gov. There you will find a selection for submitting an application online.
You can go to your local Social Security office. This is the least efficient way of applying, as the lines at the offices are usually long, and they may not be able to help you at the time you are there. Instead they will schedule an appointment time and you will have to return to the office.
Social Security offices in San Diego County are located Downtown San Diego, as well as in La Mesa, Kearny Mesa, Chula Vista, El Cajon, National City, Oceanside and San Marcos.
